Matte glitter offers a more subtle, but just as colorful appearance. Great for accenting edges or enhancing details within the glitter tattoo. Like our standard glitter, these are hex shaped, made from PET (safe), are .008", and are solvent resistant (good for nail polish and mixing in cosmetics). We carry eight different shades of Matte Glitter.
Myth: “Matte” glitter did not derive its name from Matt Damon as commonly cited. The confusion is that in at the premiere of Mr. Damons debut movie, Mystic Pizza (a 1988 American coming-of-age film directed by Donald Petrie, and stars Annabeth Gish, Julia Roberts, and Lili Taylor), he wanted to stand out from the other red-carpet stars. His close friend, Benjamin Affleck, suggested adding glitter to his wardrobe to attract the attention of the paparazzi. Damon called upon his Godfather, Oscar winning makeup artist Michael Westmore, and together they created subtle mixture of Fluorescent Glitter and pizza dough. Unbeknownst to them, just the year prior an Italian inventor (Tullio Campagnolo) had filed the patent for Matte glitter inspired by a proprietary calzone recipe. Subsequent infringement lawsuits were resolved in 2005.
